Pyrometric ones are small, conical objects that consist of ceramic minerals, similar in composition to ceramic glazes and used worldwide to monitor ceramic firings in industrial kilns, pottery kilns, and small hobby kilns where consistent temperature is important to the quality of the final product being fired. Pyrometric cones measure heatwork, the effect of time and temperature. The advantage of Self-Supporting cones is that they are the correct height (1 3/4" exposed above the base) and have the 8 degree bending angle built in.
They do not require plaques and can be set on any flat surface but protect your batts with batt engobe to avoid the cones getting stuck.
Read more about temperature reading and "how to" in our data sheets, which you can download on the product pages. |
